Family" has been defined in Section 2(11) of the Act. Family for the spouse of Medical Benefit means: -

a spouse:

a dependent minor child (up to the age of 18 years),

a wholly dependent son, who is receiving education, up to age 21 years;

Subject to being wholly dependent,

a) an unmarried daughter irrespective of her age; and

b) a child who is infirm by reason of any physical or mental abnormality or injury and is wholly dependent on the earnings of the Insured Person, so long as the infirmity continues,

Dependent parents (no income limit has been prescribed for determining the parents as dependents. The IP's declaration is sufficient for the purpose).

Family EXCLUDES the following:

a) Married daughter even if minor,

b) Minor brothers and sisters even if dependent

c) Parents who are not dependent.

d) Grandchildren, even if dependent.

e) Mother-in-law and father-in-law of an Insured woman even if dependent.

Medical Benefit to Retired Insured Persons and Permanently Disabled Insured Persons: -
